There have been a few that have made me blush, but then I am easily embarrassed. Sometimes it is completely innocent (like in the Dragonsinger series), but in others there are human, cross-species, or even alien sex scenes. Oh, and for those who aren’t familiar with Anne McCaffrey’s works, she usually includes some romance in her stories. If you would like more information I recommend visiting a site I found which has a full listing of her works in series order. She has many more books than those listed here, but these are the first books in the series that I loved the most. Romance: Any of her individual modern romance fiction titles (The Kilternan Legacy, Stitch in Snow, The Lady, etc.) Special Powers (ESP, Telekinesis, etc.): To Ride Pegasus, The Rowan Science-Fiction: Crystal Singer, The Ship Who Sang, Dinosaur Planet An Exchange of Gifts, No One Noticed the Cat) So while I am going to give you a best and a worst in this post, I have also detailed below which book(s) I would recommend starting with in each sub-genre for those with different tastes.įantasy with a hint of sci-fi: Dragonriders of Pern series (Start with Dragonsong or Dragonflight), any of the novellas (ex. My advice for you is to tackle her works from the angle that appeals to you the most. McCaffrey, it can be hard to know where to begin because she has written so many books.

The worlds which she created are vivid and exciting, and most of the stories are so full of fun and adventure that once I started reading I couldn’t track them all down fast enough.

Today I am featuring my opinion about the best and worst of Anne McCaffrey.ĭon’t run away from this post if you don’t like fantasy or science fiction! Anne McCaffrey was a prolific writer, and in addition to writing some wonderfully imaginative and entertaining science fiction and fantasy, she also wrote romance novels and some novellas. I have a couple more authors that I still want to write about after this, so you’ll probably see at least two more posts from me mixed in with the guest posts in the next year. This week I’m switching things up by writing my own post instead of featuring a guest blogger. Visit the series page for more information about the guest bloggers, the featured authors, and the sign-up form. Each Wednesday I am featuring a guest post by a book blogger detailing which books they think are the “best” and “worst” by the author of their choice.
